The Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 inversion table is the top of the line model in Teeter’s EP series. It can support individuals up to 300 pounds and 6’6″. This is a seriously built, seriously comfortable piece of equipment. Let’s see how it shapes up.
Let’s start with the table/bed itself. The EP-950 uses patented Flex Technology and looks and feels differently than your typical inversion table. The bed is actually flexible, allowing you a greater range of motion than the rigid tables you may be used to if you have used inversion tables before. This actually works really well and doesn’t feel awkward at all.
The surface allows your body to slide more easily to achieve a better stretch, and the included (fully adjustable) pillow adds neck and head support.
The EP-950 has been boosted with a strong bundle of unique features that you won’t find on cheaper models. These could be imortant to your purchasing decision, so we’ll lay them out for you here.
First, the larger, padded side handles (called Over EZ handles by Teeter) are easy to grab onto to get in and out of your inversion.
Next, you control the angle of inversion with a tether strap system, which is standard on most inversion tables in this price range. However, on the EP-950 you get the so-called EZ Angle tether strap. This has the advantage that you can preset the inversion angles to 20, 40 and 60 degrees, helping you to instantly fix the table to the most beneficial angles.
The third cool feature is the EZ Stretch Traction Handles. These are situated next to the Over EZ handles and you can push on them to enhance your stretching experience, or use them for oscillation or additional traction.
Then, perhaps the most significant improvement over other models is the Ergo-Embrace Ankle System. Even on the very good EP-560 model ankle comfort remained a problem.
On the EP-950, Teeter improves on that with a new ratchet based ankle lock system, including an easy to reach securing lever which makes it possible to secure the ankles with hardly any forward bending. Great news for those with severe back issues, and something we feel should be standard on all inversion tables.
As it is, these ankle locks are about as comfortable as it gets and a definite step up from those on the cheaper EP models. They need to be good too, since this model does not support the use of gravity boots.
You get decent assembly instructions with the package, but your best bet is to fire up the included DVD. It just makes the assembly process that much easier to understand and follow. Another tip to make assembly easier is to use your own set of proper wrenches instead of the ones you’ll get with the table. If you don’t have your own that’s fine, they just make the process a little easier.
There are some heavy parts that need lifting and manoeuvering, so not everyone will be able to do the installation alone. In the end it should take between 30 and 60 minutes to get your inversion table up and running.
Using the table
Before getting started, make sure you adjust the ankle clamps properly. This may take a little experimentation, so start at a low angle of inversion and feel your way around until you get a high level of comfort on your ankles. The clamps are very secure, but easy to release and fasten with the ratchet system and the easy to reach lever, so this is not a big hassle.
Remember that your ankles will get used to the pressure put on them, so start with low angles to get your entire body adjusted to the experience. Correctly locked in you should experience no ankle discomfort up to at least 60 degrees inversion.
The table is very comfortable and nicely follows the contours of your body. This is especially comfortable once you start inverting, where more rigid table designs tend to lose touch with your body. The additional bending and stretching it allows is fantastic. A big plus for Teeter on their Flex Technology.
Even when fully inverted, the table feels solid, safe and sturdy. You can easily do inverted exercises on this machine while fully inverted.
Once you have fine tuned your height and position, the inversion process is smooth and easy to control by simply raising and lowering your arms.
Once you’re done, the Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 folds up in a simple three step process. Although it is a heavy unit at around 74 pounds, you should be able to tuck it safely away in a corner or even a moderately sized closet.
The EP-950 is one of the highest rated inversion tables on the market and people from all walks of life and all ages achieve great results on it. Here are just a few real documented results:
“It’s been about 3 weeks now and I’m happy at the 60 degree inversion. The numbness in my thigh is gone. My back is so much better. It is amazing! ” D. Schweitzer, Amazon.com
“Lower back, right hip and right leg injury at 27 y.o. Now 57, spent many years with chiro, massage therapy and physical therapists, no surgery could be done to correct problem, all soft tissue, muscle and nerve damage. This thing is slowly changing my pain level and abilty to get through the day. Best purchase I ever made wish I heard about it 30 years ago if there was one then.” Joni Marroni, Amazon.com
“I used this product immediately and can relate that after two days of use, once a day for 15-20 minutes, the lower back pain was gone. Even more beneficial was the remaining numbness and tingling in my hand was also gone.” C. C. Werner, Amazon.com
We are very impressed with this inversion table. Let’s see what other users think of the product:
“This is a great product. Very solid and well-designed. Very comfortable, easy to use and smooth movement. It says 1 hour to assemble, but I was able to put it together is 30 minutes. The only negative whatsoever is the flimsy little wrenches they provide (they bent when I tried to use them), but all you need is a small adjustable and you’re all set! Do not hesitate to buy this inversion table, it is definitely worth the money.” Gary, Amazon.com
“It was very EASY TO ASSEMBLE – took about 30 minutes and most of that time was opening boxes and bags and so forth. We were really amazed at how easy it was to put together. I am a woman with almost no handyman skills and I feel certain I could have assembled it by myself although an extra pair of hands is handy as this model is a bit heavy. It takes much longer to adjust the table for your height and weight initially than to assemble it but after you get the hang of it, that is not difficult either. The table is very solid, quality materials and we feel secure using it. It is also very comfortable. Oh, and by the way, we find the leg clamps very comfortable.” Friendly Shopper, Amazon.com
